This month I’d like to introduce you to an innovative new ministry website: iDisciple.org. The site includes everything you used to find in a print magazine--plus music, audio clips and video clips. It’s categorized, so you can search for a topic or “explore” topics such as parenting, careers, women and spiritual growth. Bible-related topics are also listed: letters of Paul, New Testament, Old Testament, apologetics, etc. Of course, tutorials are available to explore all aspects of this new venue.
Side tabs offer options such as daily devotions and sermons. For the latter, you choose from nine top speakers featured for the week; they include favorites such as Francis Chan, Andy Stanley and Greg Laurie, to name just a few. Or just search for sermons by a speaker of your choice.
There are even iDisciple channels such as Focus on the Family and Guideposts. And you can read the Bible on this site, anywhere, anytime. A choice of versions is available. You control the font, and you can change the background from daytime to nighttime reading.
For my writing and teaching, I use the “explore” button to search out top resources on the topics I’m addressing. You can stockpile your “favorites” and establish a “library.” I have not yet explored all these options, but they surely look good.
As our world becomes more and more digital, there is no doubt in my mind that such sites will become popular. This site is nonprofit. You receive points if you refer a friend to subscribe, and funds are deposited in your “giving” account, which you can then designate to a charity.
iDisciple site is a subscription service, but you can sign up for a 7-day free trial. When you do, you’ll establish a profile regarding your interests; then venues featuring those interests will pop up on your home page.
I am pleased to say my writing was accepted to appear on iDisciple, so you can search for me by name and my work will also pop up under various topics.
So happy exploring. I’m still adjusting to the digital world, but iDisciple is helping me make that transition. Take a minute to stop, look and listen to the site. It has a lot to offer. If you'll already used the site, leave a comment and tell us what you like.
And don’t forget to look out the window every now and then to enjoy the beautiful fall color.
